Who We Are

Jon Zurn, M.B.A., Partner

Jon has been in the grants and communication field for over 17 years. As director of the Strategic Funding Office for Research at Mayo Clinic, one of the leading medical research centers in the world, he has overseen hundreds of successful proposals.

Jon’s grant experience ranges across numerous U.S. federal programs including the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Small Business Administration, and many more.

His work also includes foundation funding, such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the McKnight Foundation, as well as a host of small, program-focused foundation and family endowments. He’s also worked with numerous small businesses, building business plans, marketing strategies, and proposals to the Small Business Administration.

Jon has worked with numerous partner organizations and served dozens of nonprofits. He’s also taught grant writing to hundreds of fundraising professionals.


Jeannine Ouellette, M.F.A., Partner

Jeannine Ouellette serves as a senior editor for the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health, where she supports researchers in developing and co-authoring grants and journal articles. She also lectures in PhD and master’s level courses on impactful and effective writing.

Jeannine has more than twenty years’ experience writing grants, primarily state and federal, but also within the private sector, with a thorough understanding of both realms. 

Jeannine’s scholarly work has appeared in Journal of the American Medical AssociationAnnals of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, PediatricsJournal of the American Geriatrics SocietyArchives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and other peer-reviewed journals, while her journalism and literary work have appeared in many national magazines, newspapers, and journals and has won awards from the American Society of Professional Journalists and many other organizations. She teaches writing in several venues, including the Association of Writers and Writing Programs.
